Creating an online store on Facebook starts with a Facebook Page

Before you create a Facebook store, you must have a new or operating Facebook page. Once you are logged onto your Facebook page, navigate to the button referred to as Add a Shop Section. It’s situated to the right side of your Facebook Page, just below the cover photo. A small page will pop up with an ‘’Add Shop Section’’ tag, click on it. Facebook will require you to agree to the merchant's terms and policies. Agree by clicking on it.

Fill out your Facebook store details for selling products online

Once you click on Add Shop Section, another pop-up page will come up requiring you to fill out some business details. Fill out your details accurately. There is a box on top of the pop-up that requires your email address. Enter an email address that you access frequently. This should be the email for customer service. Ensure to check the box to ensure that any questions customers ask are sent to that email.

Set up your Payment system for selling products online on your Facebook store

Facebook has not integrated multiple payment systems yet. So you have to go with the only available option, which is Stripe. This shouldn’t be a problem for you because it’s a popular payment system. However, you’ll need to create an account with Stripe to be able to process payments. If you already have a Stripe account, Facebook will direct you through the steps to link the Stripe account to your Facebook store.

Complete your Facebook store for selling products online

Once you are done and dusted with setting up your Stripe account, you should be taken back to your main Facebook business page. Click the Finish button to complete filling out other business details. This should be a simple procedure, and it shouldn’t take much time. But, it actually depends on the kind of business you’re into. Once you complete all the processes on this stage, your Facebook store will go live, and you can start listing and selling products online. This stage doesn’t mean that you must have your inventory on hand to start selling. It just means that your Facebook store is up and running and you’re free to start selling ad receiving payment when you’re ready.

Start listing or uploading your products to your Facebook store

You must have pictures of the products you want to sell online to upload them to your Facebook. On your Facebook business page, navigate to the ‘’Shop Tab’’ and click on it. A box will pop up asking you to add a product. Choose the add product link to commence. Then you have to click on the ‘’Add photo button’’ to upload your product images. This works pretty much like any e-commerce website. You can then click on the ‘’Use photos button’’ to make your photos visible to customers. A product detail box will then come up. Here, you have to enter a comprehensive description of the product to ensure customers get all the information they want.

Facebook allows you to modify the products once they go live. The good thing about the Facebook store is that it allows you to manage inventory. If an item is out of stock, you can easily remove it from the storefront.
